What is an autonomous system?
An autonomous system takes an input, decides what steps are needed, performs them, and returns an outcome with little or no human intervention at each step. It goes further than a fixed trigger-and-action automation because it can adapt the steps to the situation.
How are AI agents different from traditional automation?
Traditional automation follows a fixed script: when X happens, do Y. AI agents can interpret an input, plan the steps, choose between actions and handle variation. Fixed automation is still the right tool for simple predictable work; agents are for work that varies.
What kinds of work can be automated?
